Marjolein was nominated for Channel 4’ Sean Lock Comedy Award in 2024 and for the Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Comedy Award in 2025, and her sold-out Fringe shows Marj and O were among the best-reviewed of their years, earning multiple comedy award nominations.

She is an accomplished storyteller with a vast knowledge of folklore, and was awarded 2022’s Scots Speaker of the Year. Coming third in The List’s Hot 100 as one of Scotland's top cultural contributors, Marjolein was also a BBC New Comedy Awards finalist and was invited to perform at the BBC Comedy Festival in Belfast in 2025.

Marjolein is a regular on BBC panel shows Breaking The News and The Good, The Bad and the Unexpected, and has performed on Comedy Central Live, Scotland Stands Up, and UKTV’s Rosie Jones’ Disability Comedy Extravaganza.

Her brand-new BBC Radio 4 comedy series Humanwatch, co-written and co-hosted alongside Gareth Waugh, launches in October 2025. Marjolein has acted in BBC’s Shetland and her writing credits include the BAFTA-winning Dinosaur for the BBC.
